Causes of Panic Attacks
It's important to know the cause of your panic attacks if you want to overcome it!
There are numerous causes that can lead to your panic attacks:
- Physical Illnesses
- Psychological illnesses
For physical illnesses, a good example would be hypoglycemia. A condition which you have a low amount of glucose in your blood.
At this point when the glucose level is low, you will experience lightheadedness, shivering, hot flashes, and so forth.
Then your body automatically releases a huge dose of Adrenaline (a hormone that is responsible for the fight or flight response) to combat the low level of glucose in your blood.
Therefore, within moments you will be experiencing the worst panic attack symptom - fight-or-flee response. You just want to run away or escape to somewhere safe.
Panic attacks can also be caused by a list of factors coincidentally follow one and another. For instance, your heart is beating rapidly, which causes you to breath rapidly. And by breathing rapidly, it will cause an instability of oxygen and carbon dioxide in your body. Therefore, the fight-or-flight response will happen later.
Now for Psychological illnesses.
Sometimes it could be because of a phobia that triggered your panic attack. Or even the fear of uncertainty. Even a hypochondriac.
And because they do not know they have a phobia that is causing their panic attacks; they would claim that their panic attack just occur without a reason or a cause.
Therefore, you need to know the cause of your panic attack. If not, it would become a panic disorder.
But there's another possible cause. I call it the "Mistaken Chain".
